MTV VMA Los Premios 2006
+ SCALE joins forces with MTV Latin America in packaging the 2006 MTV LA Video Music Awards in Mexico City. In tandem with MTV Networks' Latin American creative team, + SCALE conceived, designed and animated 2 show opens, 1 promo and ancillary packaging [bumpers, thirds, splits] for a variety of programs during the month of October. Utilizing photography of the Mexico City D.F. [Ciudad Districto Federal] and the surrounding areas, + SCALE 's artists created a series of camera maps in 3d space for the background, middle ground and foreground elements for each of the shots -- 15 total. These maps were projected against geometry of rocks, boulders and skyscrapers for each of the opens. The geodesic sphere, this years' VMA logo, was split in several hundred triangles which was animated to form together at the last few moments before the spot closes. The promo piece features a spinning group of rotating and scaling candylike letters, which type out the words "Los Premios MTV Mexico D.F." and then transform into the geodesic sphere logo against a wide shot of the Mexico City sprawl.
