Description:

The passport elements at the bottom are from the actual passport of a Jewish man escaping Nazi Germany in the early 1940s (Courtesty of the USHMM).

From Amazon: A bold, groundbreaking work that provides the definitive answer to the persistent question: Why didn’t more Jews flee Nazi Europe? Flight from the Reich is a story about people at a time of crisis. As persecution, war, and deportation savaged their communities, Jews tried to flee Nazi Europe through legal and clandestine routes. In their multifaceted tale of Jewish refugees during and after the Nazi era, Debórah Dwork and Robert Jan van Pelt braid the private and public realms, personal memory and official history.

This is just a great cover. Not too simple or too busy. Just right. Great work Nate!

This is really lovely! Did you actually collage the pieces together or photoshop?

Thanks everyone. I would have loved to have physically collaged all the elements (which always looks better). However, we had to secure imagery (the passport/stamp images) from the United States Holocaust Historical Museum, and we could only get digital scans. The actual documents still belong to the family.
