Graphic design is a meta-language that can be used to magnify,
obscure, dramatize, or re-direct words and images.
It can be powerful, elegant, banal or irrelevant.
It's not inherently anything at all, but pure potential.

J. Abbott Miller

Sustainable Design - or responsible design as I call it – is based on consciousness and knowledge. Former is the decision to go on a journey, latter the mountains you have to cross in order to reach the destination.
My project is a cartographical definition of a responsible design approach. The map does not claim to show the infinite details of the mountains but to create viewpoints. Plateaus from which you can overlook the whole scene and find your very own way through it.

The aim is to provide a general orientation by composing clippings of texts and essays. And – by pointing out the resources and using cross links – facilitate the access into the wide field of sustainable design. The map structure is based on a three-step concept that analyzes power and potentials of design and at the same time offers indications for a responsible design practice.
