Anti-Censorship Poster

Client: SCAD Illustration | Submitted: June 02, 2007 | Updated: December 05, 2008
Discipline: Illustration | Tags: clayboard, concept, design, illustration, ink, traditional

This poster was for a fictional Free Speech Coalition meeting. The idea was anti-censorship, and focuses on the most traditional censorship tool, the fig leaf. The leaf was modeled after the marble leaves used to cover statues in the late queen's presence, but given color. It is being unzipped, and the placement of the leaf is meant to suggest a fly zipper rather than a jacket zipper. The text is hand-rendered.
This piece was published in SCAD's selective "Illustrious" book, meant to showcase the illustration department's finest work.
