model photos constructed of basswood and chipboard ----- A mediatheque is a location for different minds to be exposed to each other because it is perceived as a place where all people are welcome regardless of social cast. Portland's Old Town | Chinatown site will likely have users that differ in age, class, and race. Given that the neighborhood is already established, the building must become integrated into the district rather than dominate it in order to be accepted. While the transfer of ideas from the mediatheque into the community is desired, it must also have information transferred into it from the community. The building itself will need to process data between users. ----- 7 week design process
