Portland's Old Town | Chinatown site will likely have users that differ in age, class, and race. Given that the neighborhood is already established, the building must become integrated into the district rather than dominate it in order to be accepted. While the transfer of ideas from the mediatheque into the community is desired, it must also have information transferred into it from the community.
