Description:
This group of oil paintings explores a human-occupied underwater world. Interestingly, water fragments light, distorts scale and uniquely modifies color. Even more, the dynamism of water forces a constantly evolving abstraction. These paintings represent a continued exploration of Nominal Realism. Nominal Realism is a concept I’ve developed based on a point that connects the two ideologies: Figuration and Abstraction. They have a strong continuity with my earlier photographic work and are based on teachings of Hans Hoffman and Josef Albers.
