I co-founded the Internationalist in 2003 while still an undergrad at the University of Puget Sound. Upon graduating, our 4-person team moved to Seattle, incorporated as a non-profit, and launched the quarterly magazine nationwide at a distribution of 10,000. From 2004 through the end of 2006 I served (simultaneously) as art director, designer, production & pre-press coordinator, illustrator & production artist, web manager, ad salesman, market researcher, product evangelist, IT guru, and more.

In addition to my roles with the magazine itself, I helped develop numerous media kits, promotional materials, and marketing collateral, for print and the web, and sat on the magazine’s Board of Directors.

In our years of print production, we released a run of 11 magazines, upped our distribution to 25,000 from an original 1000, and won a Bronze Eddie Award.

At the end of 2006, we decided to turn our focus completely to the website where we could spend more time doing exactly what we love: asking brilliant people critical questions about the world.
