Black & Decker Window Fan

Client: In-house project at Applica Inc. | Submitted: February 23, 2007 | Updated: December 04, 2008

Originally intended to house an advanced-technology fan blade, this product offering instead became a showcase for Applica Inc's "RainSafe" technology (which, unfortunately, goes largely unseen by the consumer). Without the striking visual of the blade, an easily understandable user interface and product aesthetics became key selling points. Introduced in 2004, it was originally made available exclusively through Target. Development program: concept ideation, Pro/E geometry (one-pass), ID and project engineering management, minor aerodynamics assist, manufacturing CAD and tooling assistance, and extensive liaison with new Asian OEM.
