The First Time I Got Paid For It...

Screenwriters relate stories about the first script they sold. The Richie Fahey image was picked up from the hardback jacket.

The dog-eared blemishes were added by me and when this cover was included in Print's Regional Design Annual their pre-press people digitally removed the intentional scratches and tears. I guess they thought I had submitted a well-worn sample.

I also like the fact that the publisher allowed me to take some liberty with their imprint name, which usually appears in a vertical tab (which I designed as their in-house creative director if I may be so humble!). It may not be readable in this jpeg but instead of merely saying "Da Capo Press" it says "Another Da Capo Press Thrilling Publication!". The publisher tried to talk me into arranging it as "Another Thrilling Da Capo Press Publication" but I convinced them the former was more authentic to the era.
