Yet another nod to Hatch Show Print. This is a book filled with little or never seen photos of Hank Williams and the biographical narrative is interrupted by personal recollections from those who knew him.

This is an older piece but was such a great project to work on. I designed the interior as well and I scanned nearly every image in the book except for the photos owned by Marty Stuart and Hank Jr. who had their collection scanned in Nashville. I met with one of the authors and the editor and was given a box of photos and scraps of papers and composition books, which Hank used to jot down notes and song lyrics. It was really interesting to look through these notebooks and see his handwriting and even rings of coffee from a mug which had been placed on the pages long ago. Also included was a complete song jotted down on hotel stationery from Hank's first visit to NYC. But the most incredible thing in the box was a scrap of cardboard which contained the last bit of song lyric Hank ever wrote. It was discovered on the floorboard of the car where Hank died on the way to another gig. Needless to say I was pretty nervous about losing any of this stuff!
