Description:
Fresh cover design for a series of ten horror books by masters of the genre – including the likes of Edgar Allan Poe, H. P. Lovecraft and M. R. James.
I created a series of cyanotypes (using light sensitive paper) though collage, objects and cut outs. The ethereal texture and indistinct lines were ideal for ghostly tales, while the bold graphic elements and colour scheme were selected for maximum visual impact. I chose uncoated stock to replicate the feel of the original cyanotypes. The inspiration was Romek Marber's amazing tow-tone covers for 1960s penguin crime. The Dunwich Horror was illustrated by Claire Scully the other nine in the series were my illustrations.
