Description:

ON 9TH NOVEMBER 2009it was exactly 20 years since the fall of perhaps the greatest symbol of oppression and division of Europe—The Berlin wall. The wall stood for 28 years and fell almost as quickly as it was built.

The over-all concept is designed to educate and give focus to the individual dates that these events took place. Just like key frames or milestones each individual spread informs about the underlying story of each event and the day it took place. In order to emphasis these historical dates and put particular focus on these, they have all been given prominent dominating position on each spread. This also helps to single out each key moment in the history of the wall.

As it's about historical moments that helped shift the balance of power to the people, the piece culminates with the moment on the 9th of November when a bureaucratic mistake by a typical DDR apparatchik resulted in the opening of the border crossings and the downfall of the wall of oppression. Imbalance working for the people.
