Museu da Língua Portuguesa

Museo da Lingua Portuguesa is the first museum in the world dedicated to a language. It was built into an old train called “Estação da Luz”, the São Paulo station where the first immigrants arrived and was restructured to become a traveling experience throughout the words of Brazilian Portuguese language.

I was the senior designer and the coordinator of a four-designers team in the agency responsible for developing a lively and innovative visual communication project for the permanent exhibition. Among several parts of the exhibition the highlights of the graphic project are the timeline of the Portuguese language and the Gallery of the influences (Crosswords).

The timeline is 33 meters panel that shows the history of the Portuguese language. It is divided in four parts: from Latin to nowadays, Indians and Africans, the two main influences of the language in Brazil and an interactive table of examples of the Brazilian Portuguese. The contents were several: images, maps, different types of texts, iconographic examples, and interactive screens. It was a challenge to consolidate everything in an understandable way to the visitor. The solution was to divide them in four different plans and to create a very specific grid to organize the different contents. The result is a clear but lively panel, with a rich range of contents very well organized.

On the other hand the Gallery of the influences - Crosswords is place dedicated to the influences of the languages and peoples that contributed to make up the Portuguese spoken in Brazil. It is composed by 8 interactive light totems, each one dedicated to a language and the 8th to the Portuguese spoken in other countries. In each totem it was created a pattern with the words of the respective language, creating a vivid and interesting composition. The visitor can see a big mass of words crossing from far that can be read if they look more accurately way closely.

Contributing to a project with the social role of this museum as a place of meeting and education was very important to my career, once I am contributing with my work to transfer knowledge to thousands of people.

The original museum concept was created by Ralph Appelbaum Associates, New York.


Museo della Lingua Portoghese (Brasile)

Il Museo da Lingua Portuguesa è il primo museo al mondo dedicato ad una lingua. é stato concepito in una vecchia stazione ferroviaria chiamata "Estação da Luz", la stazione che ha ricevuto i primi immigrati a São Paulo è stata ristrutturato per diventare un viaggio di esperienza sulle parole del portoghese brasiliano.

Sono stata la senior designer e la coordinatrice di un team di quattro designers nell'agenzia responsabile per lo sviluppo di un vivace e innovativo progetto di comunicazione visiva per la mostra permanente. Tra le varie parti della mostra permanente, gli highlights del progetto sono la timeline della lingua portoghese, e la Galleria delle influenze (Cruciverba)
La timeline è un pannello di 33 metri che mostra la storia della lingua portoghese. Esso è diviso in quattro parti: dal latino ad oggi, Indiani e Africani, le due principali influenze della lingua in Brasile e una tabella interattiva di esempi di portoghese brasiliano. I contenuti sono stati diversi: immagini, mappe, diversi tipi di testo, esempi iconografici, e schermi interattivi. è stata una sfida consolidare tutto ciò in un modo comprensibile per il visitatore. La soluzione era quella di dividere in quattro diversi piani e creare una griglia specifico per organizzare i vari contenuti. Il risultato è un pannello chiaro, ma vivace, con una ricca gamma di contenuti molto ben organizzata.

Da altra parte, la Galleria delle influenze - Cruciverba è un luogo dedicato alle influenze delle lingue e dei popoli che hanno contribuito a rendere il portoghese parlato in Brasile. è composto da 8 totem luminosi e interattivi, ciascuno dedicato ad una lingua e l'8 per il portoghese parlato in altri paesi. In ogni totem è stato creato un pattern con le parole della lingua, creando una vivace e interessante composizione. Il visitatore può vedere una gran massa di parole che si incrociano da lontano, parole queste che possono essere lette se si guardano in modo strettamente più accurato.

Contribuire ad un progetto con il ruolo sociale di questo museo come un luogo di incontro e di istruzione è stato molto importante per la mia carriera, in quanto ho contribuito con il mio lavoro a trasferire conoscenze a migliaia di persone.
