Bearcat Live! is an annual fall concert at the University of Cincinnati. For the 2005 event headlining act Lifehouse and the university’s iconic Mic and Mac lion statues were illustrated in a style inspired by the Constructivist movement (and its modern day practitioners like Shepard Fairey). The UC Bearcats’ color scheme of red and black provided an ideal motif for this conceit.
Following the 2005 event, the opportunity arose for a logo redesign that reflects the new Cincinnati Bearcats branding. This is prominently displayed on the 2006 poster and also appears on the 2007 marketing materials which promote country music acts. Taking some cues from Hatch Show Print and other screenprinters, a dynamic motif was developed featuring recognizable buildings from the university’s campus. Their configuration changes from piece to piece.
