Veer, the Canadian purveyor of fonts, stock photography, and illustrations has been purchased by Corbis, the world's second-largest stock photography house. Corbis will keep the Veer brand as a distinct and separate division, mimicking the business model incorporated by powerhouse Getty Images.

Wow. Should’ve known it was coming though...Does anyone else find this a little upsetting? I hope Veer will be able to maintain their level of creativity and devotion to the design community.

Overall Corbis is the most disappointing of the stock sites. Terrible search engine. The good photos they do carry are diluted by all the editorial junk. I decided to boycott Corbis last
