In the Raw
Source: runway.blogs.nytimes.com| Tags: Fashion Arts & CultureNo doubt everyone has seen Victoria Beckham in the Marc Jacobs ads, and some of you may have caught Juergen Teller’s show at the Lehmann Maupin Gallery. I went to the opening—it was during Fashion Week, a nice diversion—and I saw Juergen at the back of the gallery. He seemed constantly surrounded by young Asian girls waiting to take his picture with their cell phone cameras. I was struck by the portrait of Beckham, the half-nude (and maybe fully nude) picture of Marc sitting at a desk, and Juergen’s photos from Kiev and other places, many of them of Lara Stone. I was struck by how much Marc’s ideas, the personality of Marc, seemed to feed Juergen’s work—and vice versa—and I thought it would be interesting, I told Juergen, to write about their collaboration, already a decade on. There isn’t another like it in fashion at the moment.
