Job Description:

Performs graphic design and layout duties related to the University's key internal and external marketing publications, both electronic and print, as they advance the goals of the University's Strategic Plan.

Essential Functions
* In collaboration with the Director and Associate Director of Creative Services, identifies the University's strengths and areas of academic, strategic and administrative focus for the future, and creates and implements a strategy to ensure their consistent communication to appropriate internal and external audiences.
* Ensures that the graphic identity of the institution is maintained in all flagship publications, and through consulting services, ensures the same vis a vis the work of other graphic designers.
* Takes projects from design concept through production process.
* Performs graphic design and layout duties related to the University's publications including admissions recruitment pieces, fundraising and alumni materials, Wake Forest Magazine, Window on Wake Forest, the University web site, events and marketing materials, and other projects as assigned.
* Prepares request-for-bid specifications and maintains productive relationships with printers and other vendors.
* Makes recommendations on print purchasing.
* Collaborates on photo shoots.
* Consults with clients on projects designed by external vendors.
* Takes proactive steps to ensure strong relationships with other administrative and academic units so that marketing/image goals can be achieved. These may include personal calls on faculty and administrative clients.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in graphic design and layout, preferably in an academic environment. Web design experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability
* Proficiency in InDesign, Quark, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator. Knowledge of Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash preferred.
* Ability to approach print and electronic design projects creatively and collaboratively, while maintaining the graphic design and editorial standards of the University.
* Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently; ability to set and meet deadlines.
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with clients and colleagues.

Physical Requirements
Sedentary work. Talking, hearing, repetitive motions. Close visual acuity. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
