Job Description:

The Doubleday Publishing Group seeks a Designer to join their Cover Art Department. The Designer’s primary responsibility will be to design and typeset cover mechanicals; see them through the routing and approvals process; and prepare them for production. In addition, he/she will also be given the responsibility of executing cover concepts for a handful of new titles each span, as well as working on reprint corrections, and other projects as necessary. The Designer will work directly with the Creative Director and/or Art Directors on all tasks.

The ideal candidate will have strong design and typographical skills, and a keen interest book publishing. He/she should be very detail-oriented and have the ability to work under strict time constraints on multiple projects simultaneously. Candidate must have working knowledge of all latest versions of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Quark. 2-4 years of design experience, preferably in a publishing environment is a major plus.
