The Mysteries of Harris Burdick

This picture book by Chris Van Allsburg has 14 story beginnings along with beautiful, moody charcoal drawings for each one. The evocative illustrations in this are among the best storytelling images I ever seen. One could learn a lot from Chris Van Allsburg.
