William Claxton - Chet Baker (Piano), Hollywood, 1954
William Claxton is perhaps the greatest photographer of the jazz scene, he began photographing jazz musicians while he was a student, and in the 50s He started to help shoot all the covers for the Pacific Jazz record company and soon shot for all the major record companies. My most favorites are his photographs of Chet Baker when the trumpet player was starting out on the West Coast around 50's.
Claxton worked for many of the big publishers include Life, Paris Match, and Vogue.
I am also influenced by Chet Baker Jazz.- In my most favorite CD, "My Funny Valentine" his sensitive voice remains vivid to your sense.
