the Nook eBook still coming to Barnes & Noble in 2009?

Though we are still of the mind set that an eBook reader can't replace our love for the printed book, the B&N's new Nook has sparked our curiosity. We turned our back on the first generation Kindle because we found it to be clunky (and were still timid of the concept of a book replacement). And when Amazon's Kindle DX came out we were impressed, but not ready for the price tag. But this time, we splurged and pre-ordered a Nook only minutes after the official announcement on October 30th, 2009. It was a hasty decision, followed by slight buyer's remorse tinged with excitement. Now that we hear that the Nook is sold-out and shipment is delayed, we feel better about our spontaneous purchase. The Jack Spade and Jonathan Adler "designer covers" weren't in stock which made us feel a little anxious.
The Nook was supposed to land in Barnes & Noble retail stores on November 30th, 2009. We were disappointed that when we visited a Nook kiosk in a local Barnes & Noble they didn't even have demo copies and had to settle for mock-ups.

Following pre-ordering the Nook last month, we received the following message from Barnes & Noble:
"Dear nook Customer:
Congratulations on being among the first to order nook! Demand for nook has exceeded all expectations and we're really excited about the enthusiastic response. The good news is that you should expect your device to ship on or around November 30th, as previously communicated. Starting today, October 30th (12:01am ET), anyone pre-ordering a nook should expect their device to ship on or around December 7th, still well in time for the holidays..."
On November 30th, we received the below email newsletter about our early Nook purchase from B&N:

Gizmodo has voiced concern about the timing of Nook shipments. We're still hopeful we'll receive ours within the year.
