Fidel Castro

A well designed biography on Fidel Castro. I believe this was designed by Henry Sene Yee. Does anyone notice the nice tie between the Cuban dictator and a cigar box? I wonder if this tie was simply because one of the most obvious links between us and Fidel are Cuban cigars? I do like the nice touch of wood on the spine. I also think that it works well to place the endorsement (things we as book designers tend to look down upon) in the black bar on the bottom of the book.

It's obvious the designer made the conscious choice to not "overdesign" this piece. In the hands of a lesser designer, the front would have been completely filled with cigar box paraphernalia, and come off as busy. This elegant solution was no accident.
