It has an element that is so lacking in alot of design - most definitely in my own work - a sense that this work really came from experience, like Mr. Hecox is indeed part of another world. A world where people travel, where people document their life - on paper or on film - and don't spend every waking moment in front of a computer, eating, drinking and living in this digital world we've managed to make so comfortable & home-like. + he's an incredibly nice person. I wrote him about his work and his response exceeded my initial email in length & depth. anyhow. check this out. Not directly, but you know... indirectly - which means I might from time to time think "what sort of witty visual pun should I subtly slip into this...or that, today?" and not "I think I'll do a one color icon-o-graphic yetti-esque logo, today." does that make sense?
