If you have not seen Born into Brothels go rent it now!
Some saw it as depressing, but not me.
I saw it as being inspiring, motivating and challenging.
If I could take my skills and share with those less fortunate than me I think that would be a dream come true. I have some ideas already brewing and stewing - so watch this space!
Zana Briski is one strong dedicated woman! Her dedication and persistence with those children is something I admire. Just goes to show that when you believe in something or someone and invest in them the results can prove to be overwhelmingly positive and successful.

Tibor Kalman's work inspired me to pursue design. Having had been a sociology student, full of passion for social issues, I came across his work while researching for course projects, and instantly fell in love with his no fear no bs approach to delivering messages about things people are often to scared to talk about.

His use of graphic images, typography and his amazing talent to communicate messages in provactive ways about social issues really moved me! I admire his courage, his design style, and his dedication to his moral beliefs.

Inspirations

Well lets see ...I am inspired by so much, but mainly I would have to say by my mother and my early childhood. I am sure if you would have asked me that 5 years ago I would have said John Lennon, Gandhi and Vandana Shiva, and yes they inspire me to but as I get older perceptions change. This is not to say that they inspire me less than they did, but it is to say that I have looked deeper than icons of movements and culture that are so far removed from me to drive such a powerful notion of inspiration.

The family unit, as dysfunctional as it may be for most, starts to shape you more than you realise at that time. I am not afraid to be open, and I am not afraid to take on new risks and challenges - And I am not afraid to look back and think to myself, damn things were chaotic, and thank the goddeses that the chaos drove me into books and making stuff happen for myself!
