SMS Business Cards through Contxts

SMS Business Cards through Contxts
New web site, contxts.com, seeks to ditch the traditional 3" x 2" card for an invisible txt swap. According to their new service, “By using SMS, built into every mobile phone, you can easily and rapidly distribute your credentials.”

Personally, I still enjoy the tactile feel of a card and the personalized act of exchanging cards and shaking hands.

To demo the service, text “DANIEL” to “50500” (standard text messaging fees apply).

Flight of the Conchords Fan Posters
Flight of the Conchords, one of my favorite new comedy shows in the last few years, recently held a “Conchords Really Arty Poster” contest. Uppercase picked some of their favorites (pictured), which are all winners in my book. The real winner can be found here (below).

Batman Icon/Logo Mutation Video
Batman has been around for a long, long time (May, 1939 to be exact), and over the years he's had quite a few updates made to his appearance and brand. This 2:23 video set to the tune of U2's “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me” uses shape tweens to show the evolution of the Dark Knight's mark.

Wacom Nextbeat DJ Console

Wacom Nextbeat DJ Console
Having already gone through at least 3 Wacom Intuos tablets, needless to say—I'm a big fan. The Nextbeat seems like an odd addition to their family of products, but a great one nonetheless. DJs already have to deal with a lot of clutter and transportation issues, so this new wireless device starts off with one up.

Clean water = Good health, poster for Togo by Nathanaël Hamon

Clean water = Good health, poster for Togo by Nathanaël Hamon
Designer Nathanaël Hamon created a simple screenprinted PSA poster for a local village in Togo. “The screenprinted posters were given to schools, the hospital, the aids clinic, the water department, and the traditional healer.”

The 8 different icons on the "Eau Propre = Bonne Santé" poster aim to illustrate aspects of caring and conserving water in a universal way to help communicate to those unable to read French.

Harvey Milk speech and music video (Using expressive typography)

In honor of Sean Penn's Oscar win last night (Milk) for portraying Gay Rights Activist and Politician, Harvey Milk, I wanted to post this great music video of one of his speeches.

This video was used to promote the non-for-profit, causecast.org

Depression Goes Away With HD Viewing

Depression Goes Away With HD Viewing
Ok, so I saw this and thought, "This can't be right." Apparently, Sky has worked with psychologist Donna Dawson who concludes that watching broadcasts in HD via Sky+HD can be used as a way to alleviate some of the symptoms associated with depression.

Check out Dawson's selection in Sky's (somewhat depressing) attempt to market more television to the depressed.
