This beautifully crafted book (published by pie books) shows off the brilliance of the Japanese bred dogs that playfully narrate this very visual book.
Designers Kazuya Takaoka and Sachiko Kuru intersperse typography and information design in between the chapters.
The different breeds that divide the book into chapters include: Kawakami-ken, Kai-ken, Shikoku-ken, Kishu-ken, Shiba Inu, Akita Inu, Hokkaido-ken, Ryukyu-ken, Tosa Token, Chin, Japanese Spitz, and the Japanese Terrier.
The Akita is a "Working" category winner for the 2008 Westminster Kennel Club's Best of Breed List.
If you're a dog fan, this is a great book to have, and if you're not, it's still a wonderful coffee table book (just be careful not to mark the pristine white dust jacket).
All photos in the book are (c) Sachiko Kuru.
