Beautiful Losers Film by Aaron Rose and Joshua Leonard

I was delighted to have checked out out a recent screening in New York of Aaron Rose and Joshua Leonard's Beautiful Losers last Thursday at the IFC center.

It is both a history and an insight into the artists from Rose's Alleged Gallery, a small NYC storefront gallery that began in the early nineties and was known for its reputation of being on the forefront of a new wave of artists emerging from street, punk rock, graffiti, and skate culture.

The film includes artists Aaron Rose, Barry McGee, Chris Johanson, Ed Templeton, Geoff McFetridge, Harmony Korine, Jo Jackson, Margaret Killgallen, Mike Mills, Deanna Templeton, Stephen Powers, Thomas Campbell, and Shepard Fairey. You can see/read more in the Beautiful Losers book.



Rose commented at the AIGA Small Talks Series in New York last March, answering some interesting questions from the audience.

Retro Coca-Cola Bottles Commercial (as seen during the Olympics)



I just saw this Coca-Cola spot while watching the Olympics Track & Field Men's 100m. I might've missed this ad while skipping through the commercials, but since I was watching live it caught my attention.

In it, Coca-Cola's time line is presented through the evolution of its bottle designs from 1886 to the present.

These are a couple of cool concept videos by Adaptive Path for the Mozilla Labs concept series. They talk about things like "Context Awareness" and "Natural Interaction" in their design themes.

"Aurora is a concept video presenting one possible future user experience for the Web, created by Adaptive Path as part of the Mozilla Labs concept browser series. Aurora explores new ways people could interact with the Web in the future based on projected technological trends and real-world scenarios."
