Soil Map Series
The state of the environmental concern over global warming was in my mind when I was creating this print series. I was looking at soil maps of Africa and found myself drawn to the colors and lines I saw in them. I made a series of acid etching prints and then started thinking about landscape and the land that people inhabit.
Combining these traditional landscape images of soilmaps with modern subway maps in their inorganic industrial patterns made an interesting contrast for me which inspired this series.
