Alphonse Mucha

Alphonse Mucha (July 24, 1860 – July 14, 1939)

It's one of the most impressive artists of Art Nouveau. He was an illustrator which gave an astonishing mood to his works.

The lines are fluid with wonderful curls and clean colours. The stroke is perfect, the faces full of details, giving life to the characters of the work.

My favourite pieces are "The Art" ("The Music" is shown in this post) and "The Seasons".

You probably saw at least one of their work. Specialized in book covers, grey318 is a London-based studio working mainly for UK and US publishers. The most known covers are probably the Nick Hornby ones, for Penguin.
In their work we can see an accurate choice of font and a special translation from words (the book) and the images (the cover).

So now you can judge a book by its cover. ;)

It's one of my favourite design studios. It's based in London and you've certainly heard about it before as the creator of design for British Council, La Villette, V&A Museum and more.

Michael Johnson has published an interesting book called "Problem Solved" showing a large number of creative questions with they respective (smart) answers. You can buy it from amazon.co.uk. You can also buy some posters by clicking the shopping menu in Johnson Banks site.
