Renata Reis’s inspiration

Centre Pompidou

Nothing better than be inspired by the things around us...either trying to see our daily life with another eyes, either changing our place, visiting a new city, meeting new people. Last week I had the opportunity to fill my eyes, my mind and my heart and recharge my batteries in Paris!!!

Among dozen of paths, landscapes, boulevards, gardens, buildings, museums, boulangeries, cafés, libraries, new + old friends, stores that I could mention I would like to recommend the Centre Pompidou as my inspirational place in Paris. Besides its vast permanent collection – including some of my favorites as Calder and Matisse - the experience of walking inside the building is incredible and Richard Rogers + Architects exhibition is simply perfect to my first time in Pompidou! His projects are presented from the process and the idea behind, the models are amazing, the layout of the exhibition is very clear and completely open and the graphics particularly innovative!

7 key words of RR+A: transparent, legible, public, urban, green, lightweight and systems.

The video that introduces the exhibition was directed by Marina Willer and shows images of objects sliced in half, celebrating the beauty of mechanics and legibility, a recurrent theme in Rogers’ work. See the video in the link below>

Inspirational Design Happening with Sagmeister

Last week I had the opportunity to go to the first Inspirational Design Happening with Sagmeister, an event of Torino World Design Capital 2008.

Sagmeister is a master in representing his ideas in eccentric ways. For instance, creating and building real models to express concepts. Word models in nature really instigated me...

Besides his presentation – very impactive, ironic and odd – and some genial projects as the logo for Casa da Música in Portugal I really appreciate the scenery - a swimming pool. The choice was very interesting - and the way that they put 4 screens in front creating an outstanding reflex in the water...It was stimulating for all senses....

I cant forget to mention the gin cocktails offered by the sponsor after the presentation! =] Excellent!

I am really curious about Sagmeister's new book....“Things I Have Learned in My Life So Far.”

Manifesto Campari. This poster was designed in the 60s by Munari to be seen from the new high speed urban trains in Milano. It contains in itself eventual errors...Fantastic! Mostra Bruno Munari 100, Milano. Impressive. Delightful. Unmissable. *Recognise the structure of the world means living without be afraid*
