Last thurdsday I attended the Type Director's Club salon where Paul Buckley gave a wonderful lecture.
It was interesting to learn that this acclaimed graphic designer/Penguin Art director began his career in illustration.
His passion for illustration is evident in the series he art directs: Penguin Classics Deluxe Editions. This is a beautiful series repackaging the classics, complete with french flaps. Many of these title may be over my head in writing style, but I would love to have them on my shelf. He has collaborated on covers with Charles Burns, Chester Brown, Roz Chast, Frank Miller and Art Spiegelman.
I was especially happy when Paul showed an upcoming title in the series, where he worked with one of my favorite graphic artists, Jordan Crane

Oxford University Press has a winning entry in the upcoming AAUP book show. This cover was designed by Jonathan Sainsbury, under the art direction of Kathleen Lynch.
I love the colors in Mike Slack's polaroids.
Should've bought a copy while I had the chance.
